Dental Care and Terms
Good dental habits should last a lifetime, and they can help prevent cavities and other infections that can be expensive and painful. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day, and preferably three times a day, is a good rule of thumb. Use anti-cavity toothpaste and a good toothbrush that can reach hard to get to places. Flossing is equally important, as it removes any food or other debris from in between the teeth. Rinsing with mouthwash can also help to kill germs and keep the mouth protected. If you do not follow good oral care habits, cavities, abscess teeth, and other problems can arise. These problems can be expensive to treat, and can also cause severe inflammation and pain. If the mouth or teeth get infected, serious problems can arise and be very dangerous to one’s overall health. Mouth Diseases Not properly caring for the teeth and mouth can result in serious periodontal diseases. A few examples are gingivitis, toothache, infection, and a condition known as oral thrush, which involves bacteria and fungus living in the mouth. Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gums that can cause redness, soreness, and bleeding. It is a very common side effect in people who do not brush their teeth or floss on a regular basis.
